Dolls of Mine, Doll Clothing and Accessories
Dolls of Mine is a joint mother and daughter team launched in Washington, USA in 2007. We first participated and gained recognition at doll shows and conventions in Pacific Northwest States, New York, and Florida. Now we sell exclusively online to work within our current circumstances. Both of us, Marie (mom) and Jennifer (daughter), have been sewing, knitting, crocheting and designing since childhood.
Currently we design and create clothing and accessories for a wide range of doll sizes ranging as small as 16cm to the towering 70cm tall. These include fashion dolls, BJDs, collector and art dolls. Somehow the two of us manage all aspects of Dolls of Mine, sourcing supplies, sewing and knitting pattern drafting, 3D designing and printing, fabric designing, capturing photos, writing accurate product descriptions, and packing and shipping. Absolutely no sewing, knitting, or 3D printing is outsourced. Sometimes we wish we could clone ourselves. Then again, we both enjoy the creative process from idea to final creation.
Our customer base expanded when we established an Etsy shop in 2011. A visit to our Etsy store reveals an ever-growing variety of items for dolls from which you can choose. When time and circumstances allow, we accept custom orders for doll sizes we have from returning customers who are aware of and appreciate the quality standards we expect of ourselves.
Jennifer designs and 3D-prints several shoe styles in a variety of colors and materials. The smallest size of printed shoe offered is 28mm in length, with sizes up to 80mm currently. Jennifer designs many 3D-printed accessories specifically for Danny Choo's Smart Dolls such as; headbands, eyeglasses, binoculars, walking canes, coffee cups, clothing hangers, shoe lasts and the list continues to grow as she endeavors to improve her 3D printing and designing skills. She is also an excellent seamstress and previously garnered an “Award of Excellence” from DOLLS.
Marie designs fabric prints properly proportioned and printed on demand in a sustainable process that guarantees the fabric to be colorfast. Examples include color matching by hex-code, argyle designs, stripes, cats, dogs and other animals with both whimsical and novelty prints. Most are printed on cotton/spandex or Lycra for use in leggings, tights, swimwear, and T-shirts. Inspiration comes from our love of music and cats, elements in our natural world, and customers that seek the unique. She also earned an “Award of Excellence” from Dolls.
Like most collectors our doll family grows, and sometimes shrinks according to interests. Currently our muses include (in order of height from tall to small) 70cm Luts Super Senior Delf (first body sculpt), 70cm Dollshe Pure, 65cm Dollshe 26F, Fairyland Feeple 65 (first body sculpt), 60cm Volks FCS and Dollfie Dream, 60cm Danny Choo's Smart Dolls (classic/pear girls and classic guys), 50.5cm Doll Chateau K11, 46cm Lavender by Bo Bergemann, 43cm Custom House MSD (girl & boy), 43 cm Dollshe Fashion Maxi (girl & boy), 42 cm Fairyland Active Line Girl (first body sculpt), 30cm Blythe (recently added to our family), 27cm Fairyland LittleFee and Ange Fairy, 16cm Luts Tiny Delf. This variety of sizes keeps us very busy designing and creating.
Most of our items are sold as separates allowing you to assemble as unique an outfit for your doll as you desire. Occasionally we create full outfits as inspiration dictates. The bulk of our designs are available in 1/3 scale (60cm) and ¼ scale (42-46cm).
The style of our clothing varies with our moods, models, and supplies on hand. We work together, often checking each other’s work for “quality control”. In various styles of our doll clothing, we feature zippers, working buttons and finer details found in human clothing but in proper scale for whatever doll the clothing fits. We shy away from making clothing readily available elsewhere and decline to copy the designs of others. Though inspiration often comes from human clothing, it's fun to put our own twist to the design.
We strive to meet customer requests quickly. All fabric is washed before we use it. We test fabrics for color transfer and if necessary, put them through a special wash to make them colorfast. Sometimes, it takes two or more such washes to insure there is no “bleeding” that would damage our dolls or those of others.
Our turn-around time is generally shorter than one week unless it’s an especially challenging request. Jennifer loves designing for 3D prints and explores ideas for doll accessories and miniatures for the dolls. We do have a life outside of our business, limited as it may often seem. Chronic health issues, at times, tends to put a damper on our productivity.
